These are super simple to use. My 3 yr old figured it out pretty quickly. The ink washes off skin and out of clothes very easily. No complaints. I'd buy them.

First of all, I am not a professional artist, but I have several sets of pencils - three or four sets of Black Widow, Brutfuner macaron, two sets of Prismacolor, Kalour macaron. I really like these! The colors are "bright", and it doesn't take much pressure to get color. The case is okay, but it probably won't last. It's tough to find a sturdy case, so no surprise there. I haven't used them for anything other than coloring yet, so I'm not sure how they will do on regular or black paper. If you've been looking at these for a while, and have been on the fence, order them! They are definitely a good place to start the colored pencil "collection" (obsession). If you've got a kid or teen interested in drawing/coloring, this would definitely be a good set for them. About a sharpener - I use the prismacolor sharpener. It was okay, but I may invest in a better sharpener for these. I'm guessing that sharpeners work differently, depending on what pencil is being sharpened.
