Having done digital art as a hobby for years, I've been trying to do art with physical mediums, and pencils are a steady choice for me. I use a number of different types, such as graphite, charcoal, colored, watercolor-colored, and pastel-colored pencils. This sharpener's indexable opening can accommodate every single pencil I use! Some of my pastel pencils have a triangular cross section, and my AmazonBasics sharpener has a single opening that couldn't fit such pencils. That isn't an issue with this sharpener! The motor and internal mechanisms seem up to the task as well! So long as one takes time to index the sharpener's opening bezel to the correct size for the pencil to be sharpened, this sharpener easily sharpens any pencil I've thrown at it. I've taken a couple of old pencils that were poorly sharpened and shoved them quite roughly into this sharpener, and the sharpener didn't bog down or stall, and it still smoothly sharpens all pencils I feed into it. The shavings bin is nothing to gush about, but it still works perfectly fine. Since its transparent, it's easy to see how full the bin is. And the bin is easily removed and emptied. Finally, I happen to have a glass top art desk, and this sharpener's suction cup feet work very well! The sharpener stays in place, even if I tilt the desk's glass top at any angle, even if I wouldn't use said angle for drawing with pencils. But with a little effort I can still pop this sharpener free and either remove it from my desk or relocate it. I'm really happy with this sharpener and hope it provides me with years of dependable service!

Purchased as a replacement for a similar name brand unit. Found this works just as well if not better. Not sure if this will be true a year from now, but at this price I can afford to buy another in a year or two and be no worse off. It has a clean look, and is easy to operate. My kids when straight into my office when they saw it and sharpen what seems like 100 pencils. Guess this was over due….

Sharpens pencils fast. I do a lot of wood work and the pencils are not standard. This sharpener is fast and a lot better than using a knife.

I gave it a 4 star because the instruction say it is an autostop, but it is Not.
