This flashlight works as described. The light comes with 2 special batteries. Upon opening the package you can use the batteries or I would recommend charging the batteries before first use. I used an 8 cell battery made by Streamlight and it took about 5 hours to charge up the batteries all the way. The only thing I had a problem with was getting the flashlight into modes. I finally realized NOT to follow the instructions and do this - For the 3500 lumen mode press the power button one time. For the strobe setting quickly tap and then press on the power switch and it will lock on strobe.To put on 1000 lumen light, tap 2 times quickly and then the third time hold the power button. I have two other smaller Streamlights I've had for 30 years that still work and with the lifetime warranty you can's go wrong!
