This is a very good quality soldering gun. I am not a very patient person when it comes to waiting for a cheap POS soldering gun to heat up and then deal with the frustration of it not maintaining temperature well. You will not have that frustration with this soldering gun. I like that this is not a super light weight electronic..it is heavy duty and when you hold it you know you've got something quality in your hand. I fully expect never to have to buy another soldering gun in my lifetime. Do yourself a favor and buy this over a weller. I have had a weller that I broke into many little tiny bits after getting so frustrated I couldn't stand it anymore. The only thing I would change with this soldering gun is instead of an incandescent light bulb I would have put a led in it but hey, probably its an old guy in charge of the company. Old guys sometimes don't like to change, but they did it right on the rest of it.

So far on my smd components this thing has been great. I decided to not buy new expensive tips and I've been quite happy with the ones this ships with. With a nice quality flux, this soldering iron has been a dream to work with.
