Hello! New cat mom of 2 here. Adopted a 2 year old mom and her 10 week old kitten. Bought this based on reviews and honestly just winging it to hope for the best outcome as I didn’t want to clean a litterbox a hundred times a day.
This thing is amazing. You all should know that this is my first ever automated litterbox. Yup I jumped right in with this 600$ purchase. Mainly because my one boy cat kept peeing in the basement dirt instead of the litter box we currently had, which was the XL stainless steel litter box. He just didn't like sharing with his son anymore apparently after being together for 4 years. But ok. And also when I was transitioning to the Petkit, both in the basement.. he still peed in the dirt. So I had to just bring the Petkit upstairs and no more basement fun for the kitties. And that's when he finally used it. My other boy jumped right in on day one using the Petkit so that was easy for him. Anyways, I love this thing. I only do the manual self cleaning, meaning I choose to press the clean now button on my phone and it will clean it when I want. I disabled the timer settings in the settings menu. Because both my cats are scardy cats and I was not about to have them be scared of a 600$ litterbox. Oh nopeee lol. So that's amazing. I get the notifications though, even when I'm at work. So cool. I love seeing my two boys weight too, it's going to help me manage my heavier boys weight loss adventure. The waste bin is pretty cool and when it started getting more filled on the one corner by the sensor all you need to do is a little shake and move it to the other side for another day or two of waste before it's really full and you truly have to empty it. One thing I have experienced is the amount of litter it tells you is still available wasn't updating, but I learned on the fb group that is you fill the litter a too much that happens. Also when you fill it a bit too much, some can fall out and into the bin while it's doing it's cleaning rotation, so don't fill too much, stay under the MAX line. I also read that is you don't want the Petkit bags you can buy the medium 8 gallon bags from anywhere and it will fit. Please do only use the Petkit air freshener, do not try other brands, it will melt the inside compartments, learned that on the fb group page as well. I did make the litter switch from crystal litter in their old box to the plant based litter that Petkit sells. If I was going in and spending 600$, I'm getting the recommended litter for the machine, maybe over time I will switch to the arm&hammer clumping purple slide box but right now I'm using the Petkit plant based. And I like it so far, but then again I usually wait 2 hours or longer before I do my manual clean, I also make sure my kitties aren't around for it because I don't want them scared of it. I'm not worried about vacation right now because I don't have vacation time yet with my new job. But this thing will be amazing when I go away and can still have the box cleaned from wherever I am. By then my cats will be so used to it they won't care about it moving lol. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and I hope my review helps someone who hasn't yet wanted to commit to an expensive automated litterbox.
