I use this in my pottery. Between the relatively short life of the batteries (fortunately there are two) and that it’s nowhere near as powerful as a corded heat gun, I can only really use it for glazing. It’s good for drying the glaze, but not strong enough to use to dry clay that’s still too damp for trimming.
I’ve wanted a cordless heat gun for years and have had my on this one for awhile. It just made sense being that I’m already so invested in the Dewalt platform. The half a dozen or so times I’ve used this so far it’s worked great. I will say it does not get near as hot as my corded gun but the convenience far out weighs the heat output for my application most of the time. If I ever need more heat I will just continue to go for the corded heat gun as a backup. This is a solid tool.
Heats up quickly, you can adjust heat easily from dial on back - though if you need specific temps for a particular medium it would be difficult to fine tune. Worked well for what I needed, which didn’t require long term use in an “industrial capacity” so I’m not sure in terms of build quality what you can expect life wise out of this tool, but had no issues over the course of about two hours of intermittent use on a project that otherwise would have cost me significantly more to purchase a new part for. Does come with some diverted components that attach to the tip to help orient heat zones if necessary as well. Would buy again if necessary, fair price, works as advertised.
For the price it's excellent, tig welded 1/4 with good penetration, stick welder is where it shined, wanna learn tig and stick well worth it
