For the price. You cannot go wrong. This thing works great and for a beginner....Its great.. Its fast. Pretty easy to control and is a good size. On the slow speed if you use it cautiously... You can even use it in the house. Which can be fun. My only issue so far.. The complete battery/charging system. Firstly it can only be charged via a USB port. Secondly the body has to be removed every time you charge it or even to switch from one battery to the next. Its definately a simple procedure just removing 4 pins. But its still annoying that you have to do it. If battery access would have have been a little easier. This would be the perfect RC for a starter IMO.

Wanted a sub-hobby grade RC to get the daughter into it and this fit the bill. Surprisingly it has metal driveshafts and hubs! A tire came off but a simple hub nut and loctite fixed that issue. Its speed and power are plenty for a beginner and it’s light enough to take some tumbles without it breaking. We are having an issue with the controller however, something inside the steering wheel is clicking and we lose steering to one side. I smacked the controller and it came back and so far has not done it again. I DO NOT like that it is very difficult to get both batteries installed at once, it’s a puzzle. It can be done but it’s super tight, they need to change the design of the battery case. The batteries last longer than expected but they take a while to charge via usb. Overall we are happy with it.

My son bought this rc truck with an Amazon gift card he received. It is his first RC truck other than the junky little ones you get from box stores. He is 7 years old and absolutely loves it. His older sisters, 9 & 11 now want one of their own. I grew up with expensive RC trucks and I'm happy with the quality. It is fast, durable, and has good battery life. I had to reach out to customer service for a replacement part and the service level was excellent.
